Announcement for Travelers
The German government has decided that international trade fair participants can generally enter Germany as they are considered business travelers with an urgent need to travel. When entering Germany, trade fair participants from neither EU member states nor from countries on the positive list must submit proof of their trade fair participation when applying for a visa or when entering Germany:
- Employees of exhibiting companies must present a participation confirmation provided by the trade fair organizer
- Trade fair visitors must show their entry ticket to the trade fair and provide proof of an appointment for a business meeting with at least one exhibitor at the location of the trade fair
Quarantine regulations in Germany are decided by the individual federal states. Currently, those entering Germany from a risk area are generally not required to enter into quarantine if they enter with a negative COVID-19 test. Trade fair participants are advised to check the obligations by the respective federal state before traveling. Please be advised that in the future, quarantine will only be shortened and no longer waived even with a negative COVID-19 test. Early end of quarantine will be possible at the earliest through a test from the fifth day after entering Germany. The new regulations are expected to enter into force in the federal states at the beginning of October 2020.
South Korea is currently not designated as a risk area and the majority of federal states follow the standard entry regulations.
However, participants from countries with a visa requirement who travel to Germany to visit or exhibit at a trade fair need a business travel visa. A visa fee exemption is given to employees of exhibiting companies. Further information by AUMA.
This regulation could be subject to change depending on the COVID-19 situation. For further questions, please contact the individual fair organizer or us (info(at)kgcci.com).
